- Bedridden or confined to a hospital indefinitely (Eligibility for Coverage is 15 days – 17 years old, so this would apply to that age range)
- Has been diagnosed AIDS, ARC, HIV, Sickle Cell Anemia, Lou Gehrig’s Disease (ALS), Quadriplegia, Paraplegia, Down’s Syndrome, Mental Incapacity, Major Heart Condition, Metastatic cancer, Cystic Fibrosis, or Muscular Dystrophy
- Possible Alternative: Purchasing a life policy on yourself, if there is insurable interest (There is someone that is financially dependent upon you or would be at some form of a significant financial loss in the event of your death), and adding a child term rider (term insurance, usually from $1,000 – $25,000, that can be added onto a new life insurance policy with certain carriers). This could serve as a possible solution depending upon the severity of the child’s health conditions that indicate a decline for children’s whole life insurance. This would only apply to your children (biological, step, or legally adopted) and would exclude grandchildren. And a child term rider cannot be added to already existing policies.
